A few weekends ago, we finally had the opportunity to take our three year old skiing for the first time. The question was – Where should his first tracks be? We knew his first time skiing would be memorable for him and for us, so we wanted it to be someplace great.
In my mind, there is no greater place in the world to learn to ski than in Steamboat Springs, Colorado (a/k/a Ski Town USA). So, that is where we went. It is where I learned to ski (at an age much older than 3) and, as a result, will always hold a special place in my heart.

Heading to the slope!
We drove up on Saturday morning and went straight to the slope. My three year old was so excited, he could hardly contain himself. After slipping into his gear (namely his “super-cool” Dynastar skis), we went straight to the “magic carpet” – the name alone sounded great to my son.

The Magic Carpet
Needless to say, my son did amazing. He skied with his dad for two days and smiled the entire time. He had absolutely no fear. Just pointed his skis downhill and flew! He learned pretty quickly that if you go into a tuck, you can go even faster. His goal, of course, was – speed! His dad’s goal for him was – stopping!

Trying to keep up with our little speed demon.
We already have our next weekend trip planned for Steamboat. Trying to get as much in this season as we can! Yeah!!!

Thanks Steamboat - See you soon!
