I Am Now the Owner of a Nathan Trail Mix Hydration Belt!!!

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Last weekend, I went for a 9.5 mile trail run. It was amazing to hit the trail, get a run in, and soak up some of our beautiful Colorado views. My only regret that day was that I did not have any water or a little pick-me-up. Towards the end of my run, I felt a little sluggish, but nothing that a quick drink of water and a peppermint wouldn’t have cured.

Well, I’m going to head out again tomorrow for another 10 mile trail run – YEAH! And…I am the proud new owner of a Nathan Trail Mix Hydration Belt. It is small, fits around my waist, and has two 10 ounce flasks attached to it for water. There is a little zipper pocket on it too. The pocket is large enough for some candy and even my cell phone.

We had a bunch of rain over the last few days, but that’s not going to stop me from heading out on the trail first thing Sunday morning! I’ll let you all know how it goes!

And I’m On My Way - 13.1 Here I Come!!

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

I spent last week getting my running legs back again. It felt GREAT! We were visiting family and friends away from home, but I quickly found a short little loop that I fell in love. Every three times I ran the loop, it equaled one mile. The cool thing about that loop was that it had a large hill on the second half. To run three miles, I had to run the loop nine times – that meant NINE HUGE hills over a three mile period!!

After running that route a few times, I was ready for a longer, less hilly route. So, I headed to a neighboring lake that has a running trail around it. The map said that one lap around the lake was 3.7 miles – so I ran it TWICE! The 7.4 miles took me about 1:20, but I felt great when I was finished!

Back in Colorado again, I ran a 4.6 mile route yesterday and plan on running 5-7 miles on Friday! My goal is to run in the morning at least one day a week to get my legs used to the early start on race day. (The half marathon starts at 6:45 am and apparently parking is limited so they are encouraging people to get there by 5 am – not fun!!!) I’m still really excited to see how I’ll do and I know there is ALWAYS room to improve – but you’ve got to start somewhere!

I Have NEW Running Shoes!! Yeah ASICS!

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Yippeee!!! I have new running shoes. I broke down this evening and bought a replacement pair. I have to admit my running shoes were in TERRIBLE shape. They had miles upon miles of wear. In fact my “newer” shoes were so old that I replaced them at one point with my “old” running shoes that had less wear.

But now…I have BRAND NEW shoes!!! I ended up getting the same brand I had gotten in the past; so this makes for my THIRD pair of ASICS - I must be a fan. I know they fit me well, they never give me blisters, and they make me fast…well, kind of fast. I am so motivated to break them in…YEAH!
